On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Five guardians, four of a Kind, three meisters, two Winchesters, and the TARDIS crash landing in a tree

(Jack Frost x Reader)

You sat in one of the trees overlooking a small pond in the forest of Burgess. The wind played in your hair, tugging the (h/c) locks this way and that as your feet dangled from the branch on which you were perched.

It was the eve of the winter solstice, and your favorite day of the year. It was true that the weather was already a bit nippy before this, and delicate patterns of frost were already etching themselves onto the fallen leaves, but the winter solstice was always the day he came into town.

It was only a few short years ago that your friend Jamie had told you about the winter spirit, but it was only after the near catastrophe in Burgess that you had been able to see him. After that, you had gladly grown accustomed to seeing him every year and playing in the snow with him and the other kids, but these nights by yourself soon became your favorite part of the winter season.

You loved watching him do his work. The way he moved, light and lively, almost made it seem like he was dancing. You sighed silently, pulling your thoughts back to the wood where you waited. The moon had just begun to rise and the light cut through the little clearing, bathing it an ethereal glow. It seemed as though the earth itself was holding its breath, as the first few snowflakes fell through the air, alerting you to his imminent arrival.

A small smile graced your lips as you clung tighter to the tree you had climbed up in; the rough, yet cool bark pressing against your cheek in a strangely comforting manner. You knew it wouldn’t be long now before he made his appearance; he always came here first to freeze the pond.

In a moment, the wind picked up and the number of snowflakes falling lazily through the air seemed to multiply. Already the trees and ground were being covered in a layer of white. It was then, amidst the flurries of snow that you saw him.

At first he was only a speck silhouetted by the moon, but his form grew quickly as the wind carried him closer to the clearing. With a resounding laugh, he skidded to a stop in the snow at the edge of the clearing and turned to give a kind of half-salute to the sky as if thanking the breeze that he rode on.

Your heart seemed to jump into your throat as he turned around towards the center of the clearing and consequently, you. The moonlight shone on his hair, illuminating the pale locks and seeming to surround him in a halo of light. You couldn’t be sure, but from your vantage point it looked as though there was a flash of sadness in his normally laughing eyes as he looked upon the dark waters.

Closing his eyes, Jack brought his staff up in front of his chest. He took a deep breath and swung the staff out in a large arc. From the gnarled wood sprung small, white snowflakes that fluttered down to the pond, but as they touched the surface of the water thin sheets of ice spread out, colliding with one another and the bank where Jack was standing. Tentatively, he took a step forward, the ice thickening under his footsteps. And then suddenly he sprung forward, the unfrozen water turning to ice beneath the touch of his feet and staff. In an instant he was skating across the surface of the hardening pond, his movements so lithe and graceful that they took your breath away.

You smiled as your eyes followed him across the pond. It was true that Jack was a playmate when you were a child, but as you grew up you began to see him in a new light, you had developed a crush on the winter spirit. Even now, years later, you had feelings for him although you knew that they were much deeper than the childish puppy love that it had started out as, but along with this came a deeper understanding that stabbed at your heart whenever you thought about it. You knew that you could never be with him. He was immortal, eternally young, and he had responsibilities to the children of the earth. You would age, and die, and somewhere in your heart you suspected that he still saw you as the small child who would play with him and Jamie in the snow. There was no way he would return your feelings.

Caught up in your own thoughts, you gave an unconscious sigh that was louder than you intended it to be. With wide eyes, you slapped your hands over your mouth, but it was too late. Jack skidded to a stop, peering up into the branches of the tree that you were hiding in. “_________?” You sat there, too shocked to be able to respond. “What are you doing here, and why are you sitting in a tree?”

To your surprise, Jack wasn’t upset; he just looked up at you with his piercing blue eyes and waited for an answer. “I-I…I was…” You couldn’t bring your self to tell him you had been spying on him! That would definitely weird him out, but you had to come up with something. “ Why don’t you come down here and then you can tell me,” Jack called up to you. You paused for a bit, weighing your options, before giving him a hesitant nod and turning to climb down.

Your arms stretched around the trunk, trying to grip the rough bark, but the frost that had recently encrusted the entire tree made it too slick, and without warning you fell backwards. The wind rushed past your ears and you clenched your eyes shut, bracing for impact with the cold, but it never came. Your eyes shot open as you felt a pair of strong arms around you, stopping your fall.

Jack smiled down at you warmly. “You should be more careful there, snowflake.” A hot blush spread across your cheeks, staining them red, much to your embarrassment. “Thanks, Jack,” you mumbled, turning your head to the side to avoid his gaze. “It was nothing, snowflake,” he chortled, “now, would you mind telling me what you were doing up in a tree at this time of night?”  If at all possible, your face got redder. Keeping your face to the side, you forced the words out of your mouth in a whisper. “I was watching you change the season.” “What was that?” he asked, honestly unable to understand. “I said,” you turned to look at him, “I was watching you change the season.”

His eyes widened in shock, and you almost swore you saw a light shade of pink dusting his features. It suddenly became very difficult for the both of you to look at each other, which only increased the awkwardness of the fact that he hadn’t put you down yet. “Umm…Jack?” you said, breaking the silence, “I think I can stand now.” “What?” He met your eyes again before finally realizing what you asked him, “Oh, yeah. Here ya go.” He set you down, placing you on your feet. You were fine for a moment, but then your knees gave a violent quiver, still a bit unsteady from your fall. Without thinking, Jack reached out to support you, holding you upright.  “Thanks,” you breathed.

Another moment of awkward silence passed between the two of you before a playful smile spread across the winter spirit’s face. “Say, ________ , since you’re out here already, why don’t you go ice skating with me?” A small smile graced your features to match his, but then you noticed a small problem. “I don’t have any ice skates.”  “Is that all that’s holding you back?” Jack chuckled. “You wound me, snowflake.  With all of my powers as the guardian of fun, I think I can whip up a pair of ice skates.”  He twirled his hands a bit and a cloud of blue snowflakes flew between them, slowly taking form and hardening till they were solid. You looked up at Jack in wonder as he held out the beautifully crafted shoes.

Excitedly, you pulled them on, wobbling a bit as you tried to keep your balance. You made your way to the edge of the now frozen pond, which was only a little way from the base of your former hiding spot. As you had pulled on your skates, Jack had gone ahead and was now standing upon the ice with his hand held out, waiting for you.
You moved forward cautiously, afraid of falling, but all of your fears vanished in an instant when he reached out, clasping your hand in his.

Just like that, you found yourself skating around the small pond, laughing wildly with Jack Frost, as he trailed little silver rings of frost behind you.
I decided to re-watch the first scene of the movie for inspiration and I ended up watching the whole thing! That's okay though, because at the moment my life needs a little more fun and who better to bring it than the guardian of fun himself? Meow :3

Also, my iTunes was on shuffle and this song came on www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmx6nK… and it fits perfectly! Forever more this song will remind me of Jack Frost:D (Big Grin) . In this context I was thinking the song described the reader a little better, but it could really go both ways.  (The song is Shiver by Coldplay for those of you who may be curious, but don't want to click on the link)

Anywho, I hope you all enjoy!
